Our People

Craig Furness
Chief Executive Officer and Director

Craig is actively involved in the delivery of advice and service to clients. He has a passion for the efficient delivery of employee benefits solutions and world-class administration services for group and individual insurance applications.

Craig has significant experience in managing both distribution and operations teams in the group and retail markets. His 21 years in the industry have included experience with life insurers and broking organisations dealing in life and health insurances, and superannuation and investment consulting.

Craig joined the financial services industry after completing his MCom at Canterbury University in Christchurch. He has held senior management and directorship positions for major Australasian life and health insurers. He has also held a senior role within a major international broking organisation, for which he and his team were responsible for the provision of consulting administration services to a portfolio of large corporate clients in the private and public sectors.

In his current role Craig has overseen the development of Cosignia as New Zealand’s leading provider of Third Party Administration services within the financial services sector.

June Terry
Operations Manager

June has over 20 years’ experience in the health and life insurance industries in New Zealand and overseas. Her entry into the industry came with her appointment as claims manager for Aetna Health in the early 1990s, followed eight years later by a period of more than two years in Fiji with Colonial Health & Life.

As the leader of our professional operations team, June drives the levels of service excellence that our clients want. June has a passion for administration and is constantly looking for ways to enhance the manner in which we deliver services to our growing client base.

Jim McKegg
Chief Finanicial Officer

Jim is a qualified accountant and experienced senior manager with many years of experience in finance, senior management and chief executive roles within various organisations. Jim manages the finance functions within Cosignia and is responsible for the management of specific projects, both internally and with clients.

Adrienne Baker
Manager, Existing Business

Adrienne has been working in the insurance industry for nearly 20 years and possesses immense knowledge about how insurance can benefit employers and their employees.

Understanding the administration of insurance and claims is complex. Adrienne’s experience includes working for a number of insurers in the individual and group segments of the business, and leading teams that provide operational support to employers and employees. This experience allows Adrienne to ensure that the delivery of service to Cosignia’s existing clients consistently exceeds expectations.

Helen Brown
Business Support Manager

Helen has extensive experience in the Health and Life insurance industry having held management and consulting roles within New Zealand and abroad. Helen’s areas of expertise range from claims management, structuring group insurance, system development and process improvement.

Helen has worked for a number of insurers in both the individual and group parts of the business and has lead teams that provide operational support to employers and employees. In her current role Helen is responsible for overseeing the ongoing development of Cosignia’s technology platforms. Helen also plays a pivotal role in the smooth migration of new client relationships to Cosignia including the establishment of groups on our systems and the integration of client requirements within the well established Cosignia administration processes.

Sally Pahl
Account Manager

Sally has worked in the health and risk insurance industry for more than 20 years, specialising in the provision of advice to employers and employees. Sally brings her experience in the account management of group insurance programmes to the Cosignia clients she works with, applying her knowledge of the wide variety of programmes available to ensure that Cosignia’s services suit the requirements of the client.

In addition to her work with a number of employer-based programmes, Sally works closely with funeral directors who utilise the FDANZ Funeral Trust.

Milana Rix
Claims & Underwriting Assessor

Milana has had a varied and interesting career comprising a number of roles in the medical and health insurance industries. She has more than 12 years of experience in roles incorporating underwriting, reporting and claim resolution, and has dealt with internal and external clients on all aspects of medical and healthcare matters.

Having begun her career in general veterinary nursing, Milana then spent eight years with New Zealand’s largest private medical insurer.

In Milana’s time at Cosignia, she has been a key member of the team responsible for developing Cosignia’s electronic claims adjudication functionality and liaising with insurers and providers to determine the rules required to assess effectively and efficiently.

Milana is currently working with insurers to develop and refine underwriting processes in Third Party Administration.

Stephen Millham
Claims & Underwriting Assessor

Stephen joined Cosignia following a successful period as a claims adviser for one of New Zealand’s leading health and life insurers.

Before joining the insurance industry Stephen gained the certificate in physiological measurement (specialist module, cardiac) from the Society of Cardiopulmonary Technology (NZ) Inc. With this qualification he worked for four years as a cardiac physiologist at the Auckland, Greenlane and Starship sites of Auckland City Hospital, where he was responsible for tasks including the performance of various tests and the advice and teaching of fellow staff members in relevant cardiac procedures.

Stephen’s role at Cosignia straddles health and life risk benefits and includes active involvement in the development and refinement of policy in relation to both underwriting and claims assessment.

Ian Crawley
Group Risk Operations Manager

Ian has over 25 years of experience in a wide range of roles in the group life and disability insurance markets. Prior to joining Cosignia Ian worked for New Zealand’s largest life insurer, and was widely recognised as New Zealand’s leading proponent of group insurance risk assessment and pricing.

In his recent roles Ian has been responsible for tasks including the assessment of insurance risk (based on demographics and other risk factors); general administration of group insurance policies (both direct and through broker relationships); and input into the development and maintenance of appropriate technology platforms for the ongoing management of a portfolio of group insurance clients.

Ian’s role at Cosignia includes assisting with the management of the ongoing growth of Cosignia’s Third Party Administration services in the group risk market.

Mahendra Narotam
Senior Account Manager

Mahendra has worked for a variety of leading financial service providers in New Zealand and Fiji, and has over 25 years experience in individual and group business roles. His varied career has given him a broad understanding of the entire industry, backed by the insurance qualifications he gained during that time.

Mahendra has focused on group insurance administration for over half his career, and has become a specialist in this field. His experience and knowledge of the group administration function is invaluable within the growing Cosignia team. Mahendra works with a variety of insurers and brokers in his current role.

Diane Bell
Account Manager

Diane started her career in a variety of roles within the fashion industry and is a qualified beautician. Diane joined Cosignia in a role that focuses primarily on one of Cosignia’s largest clients, the Funeral Directors Association of New Zealand.

Diane is responsible for all day-to-day administration of the FDANZ Funeral Trust. In this role Diane has regular contact with funeral directors and trust participants, including processing of new participant applications, processing of benefit payments and dealing with general queries.

Liz Anderson
Account Manager

After completing her degree Liz entered the insurance industry, joining New Zealand’s largest life insurer in a role providing support and administration services for a portfolio of group insurance clients.

At Cosignia Liz continues to provide service to group risk insurance clients across multiple insurer, broker and employer relationships.

Marie Furness
Business Analyst

After leaving university Marie began her career in the insurance industry, working as an actuarial trainee for a leading Australasian life insurer. She then spent a number of years as an analyst in the investment banking industry before taking on the role of corporate finance manager for one of New Zealand’s largest corporates, and working in a regulatory role for the Reserve Bank of New Zealand.

Marie’s diverse background in various finance-related roles makes her ideally suited to providing business analysis across a range of functions within Cosignia.
